Most don’t think of the hauling industry and all the trucking companies that keep our economy going. Without those rigs hauling different types of loads, whether gas, office supplies, grocery items or whatnot, out country would stand still. How does the gasoline at the pumps get there? What about the diapers for your child? How do they get to the store to be put on the shelf? The Answer: the big trucks deliver that and so much more.
What about the different types of trucks that might be encountered on the roadways. Each is different because of the different types of cargo. Example: the truck will deliver ice cream to a grocery store is not he same kind of truck used to deliver office supplies. Also, there are freight companies that will specialize in delivering a certain product over another.
Probably the most hair-raising truck on the roadway would have to be the car hauler. Those that you KNOW one of the vehicles are going to break loose to then fly onto your car! How about a tanker that is hauling fuel, fertilizer or any other chemical? Those who drive these truck types probably have steel nerves. The not only have to worry for the safety of their loads, they have to watch out for crazy drivers and other possible potential hazards.
Some companies specialize in moving households and offices. Think of the families who sell their houses to move across the state or country. Haulers that carry that type of freight, not only has to be cautious of household items because of insurance issues but also customer satisfaction by handling stressed families making these moves.
There are also many other truck types on the roadways. Flatbeds, refrigerated, dry van, even those that haul livestock, we all encounter most of these on a daily basis. We should be aware that these companies and drivers are literally driving the economy. The have tough freight to carry and if it were not for them and the jobs they do, we couldn’t do ours. |
